If we took all the money minted and printed throughout history from the entire globe and made one gigantic deposit in an effort to buy this prize it would be like licking the pyramids in order to dissolve them. If the earth’s greatest musicians and singers composed the most perfect melody it could not touch the soul like this gift from heaven. God’s love cannot be weighed or purchased or matched. It is eternal in life and measureless in amount. I often drive down the freeway and tell the Lord I love Him. Immediately chills go down my spine as He responds. Nothing is so liberating and joy-producing as God’s awesome love.
Meditation Luke 12:24--Consider the ravens: They don’t sow or reap; they don’t have a storeroom or a barn; yet God feeds them. Aren’t you worth much more than the birds? What makes us valuable is the fact that we are loved by our Creator! Are you empty inside and wandering through life like a wilted kite? Do you realize your value? The Lord knew your name before you were born. He gave you a unique design and purpose not so He could assemble some gigantic human puzzle, but because His infinite capacity cries out for more fellowship with human beings. That’s right. You’re valuable. God wants your heart included in His forever family. The next time you see the bumper sticker animadverting “Life Sucks” on the car in front of you, consider asking the Lord to reveal His incredible love to that pessimistic occupant. And if by chance the car is yours, remember this--God loved you enough to let His perfect Son get massacred by people who believed their value was in how pious they looked. They thought that obeying His will meant protecting their legal interpretations of His laws. Only a twisted sense of value could condemn a loving Savior to death! Don’t let your value be measured by those things that will burn or fade with time. Set your esteem in the snow-crested peaks of God's personal love for you. Follow Him and you will glow in the warmth of His acceptance. Something to rejoice over . . . in reveration! Inspiration Our value to God is that when we obey His spoken word we become in reality the idea He had before He spoke. God’s word expressed in us becomes its own witness to God.—Oswald Chambers in Not Knowing Where ©1999 Daniel York ARR. Reveration is the weekly devotional ministry of First Cause.
