Trip 3
November 13-20, 2019
Javier, Patricia (with their two children) and Dan York conducted leadership training for six days in Coatepeque, a city of about 200,000, Pajapita, San Pablo, and Guatemala City primarily with pastors and church leaders.
The team had a fantastic day working with the Guatemala City Police Force teaching The Leader's Ethics. We met with two different groups totaling about 350 people and had over 50 people invite Jesus to be their Savior. Imagine the impact it has on a nation when the officials and authorities have the right spiritual foundation and moral principles! Dan asked a small group of policemen the team met with for lunch what their biggest challenge was in serving. It was humbling and surprising to learn their answer. Most of them come from rural areas 4-5 hours away. They work for 10 days straight and are off for 5 days. But they lose a whole day of time with family just traveling. Thus their biggest struggle is separation from their spouses and children. Because it is hard to find work in the rural areas they come to the big city to work on the police force.

Trip 2
May 15-20, 2019
First Cause sent a team of Javier and Patricia Ibáñez (accompanied by their children Nathaniel and Eno) and Dan York to conduct leadership training. The key takeaway from this trip was identifying and recruiting pastors Alfonso and Manuel, Simeon, and Edgar and Eliu to form the nucleus of a future leadership team for Guatemala. Dan spoke on The Strong Leader's Hand and both Javier and Patricia led several sessions on leadership. Javier is working to set up a leadership congress to be attended by hundreds of pastors in the fall. Galilea Central America served as the host church for our time in country. Javier and Patricia also traveled to Pastor Alfonso's region to set up follow-on training.
Trip 1
July 10-17, 2007
First Cause sent a team on the invitation of Pastor Robin Laparra to minister to children in the small town of Independencia not far from Tapachula, Mexico. Dan York with his son Stephen, Chris Govekar with his daughter Karissa, Molly Harris with her daughter Jaimie, Robin Laparra with his daughter and translator Lusmy, and Dan Williams all helped lead ministry. Part of the team’s objective was also to provide spiritual coaching to Pastors Eber, Edgar and Carmelo. The team met with the local Mayor, held a town meeting and led prayer and teaching meetings for the children and adults.
