Meditation
Job 10:11,12--You clothed me with skin and flesh, and wove me together with bones and tendons. You gave me life and faithful love, and Your care has guarded my life. In the midst of his intense suffering, Job validated that God’s care guarded his life. That is an astounding observation made while his life was getting ripped apart. If Job understood and trusted in God’s care, we, who know Jesus, ought to take hope that God also cares about us. Jesus testified to safeguarding His disciples. “While I was with them, I was protecting them by Your name that You have given Me. I guarded them and not one of them is lost, except the son of destruction, so that the Scripture may be fulfilled” (John 17:12). Peter, a direct recipient of Jesus’ care, wrote, “Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, so that He may exalt you at the proper time, casting all your care on Him, because He cares about you” (1 Pe. 5:6,7). Yes, He cares about you. Our plans fall apart. Our hearts get twisted in the wind. We suffer intensely and despondently question what happened to God’s caring. Benjamin Franklin observed, “Want of care does us more damage than want of knowledge.” But Hannah Whitall Smith reminds us that “God's care for us is more watchful and more tender than the care of any human father could possibly be.” He guards your life with unfailing caring. Don’t let circumstances trample your faith. Don’t let hardship ruin your perspective. Stand upon the truth that the One who called you will fulfill you for His glory through the power of care! Inspiration “He is faithful and willing to take special care of you Christians, because, as has been said, He cares for the birds of the air as well. So forget your anxieties, since you cannot accomplish anything by them. It does not depend upon your anxiety but upon His knowledge and concern.”—Martin Luther ©2023 Daniel York ARR. Martin Luther was a good man to quote. In his controversies with Rome, he sometimes expected to be slain. But time and again he was unexpectedly rescued.
