All the guests were seated, and the coffee cake was already on the table. Rather than toss it and avoid embarrassment, Joyce asked God to give her the piece of cake that contained the handle. Dave Legg, the sharer of this story, wrote, “I can still see you cutting the cake with the care of a brain surgeon. I remember thinking I’d never seen anyone cut a cake with such precision.” Joyce sat down at the table, and as she cut into her piece, there was the handle! Dave observed, “The Lord taught me something significant that day that I’ve never forgotten after 54 years. God is the One who specializes in the impossible, and it delights His heart when His children ask Him to do what others may believe is impossible.”
Meditation 2 Kings 6:15-18--When the servant of the man of God got up early and went out, he discovered an army with horses and chariots surrounding the city. So he asked Elisha, “Oh, my master, what are we to do?” Elisha said, “Don’t be afraid, for those who are with us outnumber those who are with them.” Then Elisha prayed, “Lord, please open his eyes and let him see.” So the Lord opened the servant’s eyes. He saw that the mountain was covered with horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. When the Arameans came against him, Elisha prayed to the Lord, “Please strike this nation with blindness.” So He struck them with blindness, according to Elisha’s word. Elisha’s servant saw an immense threat—an Aramean army sent to capture his master. Elisha asked God for the improbable, and God opened his servant’s eyes. Then he asked for the impossible, and God blinded an entire army. Whether it’s a spatula handle in a coffee cake or an invading army, never be afraid to ask God to do what only He can do. Jesus said, “I assure you: Anything you ask the Father in My name, He will give you. Until now you have asked for nothing in My name. Ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be complete” (John 16:23,24). Are you in a challenging situation? Ask the Father for His help. Whether it’s a missing spatula handle or an invading army, the Lord cares, and that is something to think about . . . in reveration!
