11/13/2010 Status IIThis year I’m closing in on almost 150,000 air miles—which is like flying around the world six times. I try to have everything laid out the night before I am travel because it speeds up getting ready to go the next day. Recently I had trouble checking in online. I phoned an Alaska airlines agent and found out my ticket was hollow; I was scheduled but the fare was unpaid. So, I called up my deputy and after some research she was able to find out the cause of the problem and fix it. Because she helped, I was able to print my ticket. Because I left at 0515 a.m. instead of 0500 a.m., I cut my travel time too close. I parked the car just in time to catch the bus but because I hurried, I forgot two items I need, a Garmin for getting to my destinations and coins to give out to deserving Soldiers. The bus took on an extra load of passengers and I began to wonder if I would be able to check my bag on time. Because, a young Japanese dad graciously moved his suitcases out of the way I was able to grab mine and dash to the ticket counter. Because I was on government orders, the ticket agent immediately took my suitcase and checked it without charging me $20. Because of my MVP status with Delta, I was able to go through the express security line. As I walked up to the gate I joined the line of boarding passengers to Boston and breathed thanks to the Lord that I made the flight. There were many becauses to contemplate but the Holy Spirit reminded me of status. Had I not had official orders and MVP standing it is doubtful I would have made my flight.
Meditation Galatians 3:28,29—There is no Jew or Greek, slave or free, male or female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, heirs according to the promise. Those of us who follow Jesus ought to design and carry around a COG card. A Childof God has status. No matter what stresses we encounter in life, (so long as we are not sinning), the Holy Spirit is our committed Advocate and Counselor. When hell blows its smoke at us and Satan does all he can to harm us, it does not matter! We may die but we certainly will LIVE. Our blood-paid status already affords us places in the JPH complex (Jesus Prepared Homes). The next time you stand in line, or forget something, or feel like screaming because of feckless circumstances, take a deep breath, pull out your COG card and have a praise session. What really matters is not the aggravators but rather the Redeemer. Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to remind us that we have eternal standing and restoration—something to think about . . . in reveration! Inspiration Our right standing is proved by the fact that we can walk; if we are not rightly related to God in our thinking we cannot walk properly.—Oswald Chambers in God’s Workmanship ©2010 Daniel York ARR.
