8/6/2016 0 Comments It Is ImpossibleIt is impossible: to fly with only our human body; to please everyone; to live perfectly; to know everything; to escape aging; to run faster than every animal; to swim across the ocean; to be invincible; and, to list everything that is unattainable. Because of impossibilities we are weak, vulnerable and headed for judgment. But, because of possibilities, the same reality holds true. Life throws us curves when we expect straight lines. People let us down and we make mistakes. We are falsely accused and we misjudge others. A little tick brings lime disease, a small plant brings healing. A pleasant word in the midst of chaos brings us cheer. We trip. We succeed against the odds and triumph in the winter despite the blizzard. With so many variables and unknowns it is easy to become discouraged and to wonder what or who exactly can we trust?
Sarah once laughed at the message she received from the Lord. “Can I really have a baby when I’m old?” The Lord responded by asking Abraham, “Is anything impossible for the Lord? (Gen. 18:13,14) Jesus taught His disciples that indeed men face impossibilities but “with God all things are possible”(Mat. 19:26). These six quoted words rank as some of the most important words uttered in the Bible! Because of them, we have hope amidst all our impossibilities and possibilities. This knowledge allows us to trust Him because He is able to save and redeem us. And in all God’s possibilities we discover an even greater paradox. The possibility that He can do wrong or fail is impossible! Meditation Job 34:10—Therefore listen to me, you men of understanding. It is impossible for God to do wrong, and for the Almighty to act unjustly. Elihu,in the passage above, makes a true statement to Job and his friends. His observation is supported by the author of Hebrews who states that “it is impossible for God to lie” (Heb. 6:18). Herein lies the greatest support in why our faith in God is epic. It is impossible for God to do wrong! His word is always true. So, the next time you are discouraged, remember He claims to love You—therefore He does. When again you feel burdened by guilt for some failure, confess your sin to Him and remember that He alone has the ability to absolve sin and make you righteous. When life seems erratic and living a great test, recall that He made you and gave you life and that in Himyour existence will have meaning and purpose. It is impossible for us to “go wrong” when we believe that it is impossible for Him to do wrong. Inspiration God is the most obligated being that there is. He is obligated by his own nature. He is infinite in his wisdom; therefore he can never do anything that is unwise. He is infinite in his justice; therefore he can never do anything that is unjust. He is infinite in his goodness; therefore he can never do anything that is not good. He is infinite in his truth; therefore it is impossible that he should lie.—J.
