Psalm 65:11--You crown the year with Your goodness; Your ways overflow with plenty. If it seems like the world is getting worse, it is. Crime, sickness, fear, pain, debt, skepticism, cost of living, and cynicism are all rising. Even the weather seems increasingly bizarre. Accordingly, it is a great time to go against the pernicious tide and recognize God’s goodness. He is unintimidated by calculated evil. His hands are not tied by politicians, judges, anarchists, syndicates, special interests, billionaires, gangs, or officials of any type. He remains an all-loving Father, provider, sustainer, healer, encourager, forgiver, teacher, shepherd, and leader. Despots cannot quench His Word. Rebels or open borders do not defeat his will. Elections do not thwart his purpose. He is the God of abundance. Think about what this means. Let’s get our priorities straight. What we treasure reveals the values of our hearts (Mat. 6:21). If we are upset because the balance of life is uncertain, we should remember who created the scale. History does not pronounce God as some cosmic loser. The Maker of Time reveals what was, what is, and what is to come. Therefore, we can extinguish worry. Pursue God’s kingdom as priority number one and live righteously, and He will give us all we need to live (Matthew 6:33). That is not a hypothetical suggestion; it is a signed, sealed, delivered promise brokered by the blood of Jesus. I was reminded of the importance of Mat. 6:33 recently, when I accidentally took another pickleball player’s cell phone home with me. I still don’t know how or why because his device was larger than mine, and my iPhone was in my backpack. I had no idea whose phone it was until Chris posted a group text on the lost owner’s behalf, asking if anyone had mistakenly picked up a cell phone. Once I knew the owner, I returned his phone to him the same day, knowing how critical these instruments are to virtually all we do. If we gave God as much attention as we do our phones, imagine the impact it would have on our lives. What iPhone or Android can crown our year with blessings or leave abundance in our wake? I think the answer is apparent even without taking someone’s phone or charger. I’m claiming God’s goodness. I can’t wait to see the results!
