My brother, Nate, has a stand on his Florida farm by the road. He stocks it with food from his land and allows people to purchase what they need and leave money in a box, or if they can’t afford to pay, they can take what they need. Only once has someone stolen cash from the box. People love what he is doing and stop by his stand daily to purchase or take food.
Today, I read about a new trend in coffee shops, where people buy more cups of coffee than they need. For example, they purchase five cups of coffee but only drink two. The remaining three are tagged with a paid receipt so that any patron who comes in and is short on cash can redeem the tag and get a free cup of coffee. What a great idea to pay it forward. Fallen grapes make a difference for a hungry soul. We spend too much time thinking about what we can get when we should think about what we can give. Og Mandino wrote, “Beginning today, treat everyone you meet as if they were going to be dead by midnight. Extend to them all the care, kindness and understanding you can muster, and do it with no thought of any reward. Your life will never be the same again.”1 Hmm—those are some tasty thoughts. Fallen grapes . . . lifted kindness . . . something to think about . . . in reveration. Inspiration “No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.”—Aesop ©2024 Daniel York ARR. Will we operate on thin margins or full margins? When we have sufficient margin, we aren’t pinched when we leave those fallen grapes.

The problem with the military example is that we “paid” for the reserve with $34 trillion in debt and still counting. (See usdebtclock.org) Thr Bible warns against debt for a reason. Also, we have to be on guard to ensure people work as well. Remember the quote “you don’t work, you don’t eat” in the Bible? Where is live in Las Vegas, I am surrounded by able body men panhandling instead of working. I pray the Holy Spirit leads them to work

As brother Will says above, debt and reserves are opposite. When we borrow to consume, we are probably overconsuming.
