4/10/2019 1 Comment ConfirmationMy good friend Dan moved from Tigard to Albany Oregon to work with Dana, another mutual friend. Unfortunately, Dana’s business experienced a downturn and he had to let Dan go. In 2012 Dan felt led to stay in Albany and serve as an Associate Pastor in a Calvary Chapel. One day, his senior pastor heavily challenged him to trust God. He told Dan to quit his job and that he, through the church, would support him. The amount he was willing to give Dan was more money than he made from work. So, he did what Tom asked and left his job to focus solely on ministry.
When Dan came to get his first paycheck from Tom, Tom turned around in his chair and said, “I’m sorry but we don’t have the money to pay you. You’ll have to go get a job.” As you can imagine this was deflating news! But before he left the building, a woman came in and approached Tom and said, “God told me to bring this money to you and that you would know what to do with it.” Tom tried to get the woman to be more specific but she simply repeated her claim. Then she left. Tom called Dan back into his office and poured money from the envelop on a table and said, “Dan this is for you.” It was exactly what Dan needed and it confirmed in his heart that God truly wanted him to pastor. Years later, he is the senior pastor of Calvary Chapel with multiple stories of God doing an amazing work. Meditation Psalm 119:38--Confirm what You said to Your servant, for it produces reverence for You. Oswald Chambers wrote in My Utmost For His Highest, “Have I received a ministry from the Lord? If so, I have to be loyal to it, to count my life precious only for the fulfilling of that ministry.” When God confirms His Word or calling on the lives of His people it not only produces reverence for Him, it also provides confidence and joy. Has He called you to a certain ministry? Trust that He will provide. Are you worried about tomorrow? Don’t be! Does it feel like circumstances or people are against you? If God called you, press forward and don’t be discouraged. Let God be your providing Father. God didn’t just deliver Dan money, He surprised him with a church building. I had the opportunity to preach in that wonderful, timeworn facility with beautiful stained glass windows. I was able to eat and enjoy fellowship with families that are growing in their walk with the Lord. This would not have happened had Dan not recognized and believed God’s confirmation for him to minister.
