Meditation
Esther 1:22--He sent letters to all the royal provinces, to each province in its own script and to each ethnic group in its own language, that every man should be master of his own house and speak in the language of his own people. The invention of language was for edification. God made us to speak so we could work, love, and function effectively. He gifted us with complex speech because we, unlike the rest of creation, are made in His image. Sin fouled everything, and as we know, words can hurt, they are filled with vulgarity, and they often are used to tear down instead of to build up. My friend Reggie and I were out walking my dog Sig, and we were discussing the topic of language. He made an interesting point. In Heaven, we won’t be speaking any of the languages we know here because they are all defiled and have all been used at one time or another to curse God and cause harm. I suspect Reggie is right, and I don’t know about you, but I am excited about the ability to communicate with everyone without confusion, mistakes, or misunderstanding. No more will we struggle with trying to connect with someone from another culture and language group. Imagine how productive we will be as we clearly speak to each other. Vishal Magalwadi wrote, “Language makes a nation, literature builds a great nation . . . A language is the seed that grows into a nation. Differences in languages birthed different nations . . . Language is also the bank that stores a people’s intellectual treasure.[1] If that is so on earth, imagine how spectacular the results will be in heaven! Something to think about . . . in reveration! Inspiration Linguists tell us that languages get more and more complex the farther back they trace them. The older (“more primitive”) a language is, the more complex it appears to be. This is powerful evidence against evolution. If evolution is true and man gradually evolved from more primitive creatures, language should get more and more simple the older it is said to be.—Jobe Martin in The Evolution Of A Creationist ©2023 Daniel York ARR.
