11/15/2000 0 Comments EducationMoses was a highly educated man, taught by the finest scholars of Egypt. But with all his knowledge he tried to fix the injustices he observed through his own strength and God had to place him with shepherds, stripped of all that was familiar until a burning bush captured his eyes. Then he listened to God’s voice.

1 Corinthians 9:26,27--Therefore I do not run like one who runs aimlessly or box like one beating the air. Instead, I discipline my body and bring it under strict control, so that after preaching to others, I myself will not be disqualified. 1/11/2000 0 Comments CreativeJunior High School was the worst period of my life. My family moved from Tokyo, Japan, to Seoul, Korea in the middle of my 7thgrade. I didn’t find a niche in the new school, so I compensated by handling adversity and uncomfortable situations by being funny. Mr. Eng, the principal of the Crusaders, abetted my cause. Once I pulled a rubber band back as if to shoot him and his immediate response was, “That’s stretching things too far!” My life was being stretched, and my ideas for coping weren’t working.

She homeschools three growing kids without complaining, faithfully manages a household whose routine is weekly interrupted by the unknown flow of people that come with the territory called ministry. Her efficiency is absolutely amazing. Her refusal to complain is inspiring.
8/26/1999 0 Comments SilenceSilence is golden. It is a paradoxical potion to a stressed spirit. I say paradoxical because often in our busyness we cry out for God and we cannot hear Him. He may seem absent from the roar of everyday life. Indeed, I wonder if we crowd Him out by out incessant action. No wonder He impressed upon the sons of Korah “He says, 'Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth'” (Psalm 46:10--NIV).

2 Samuel 6:14,15--David was dancing with all his might before the Lord wearing a linen ephod. He and the whole house of Israel were bringing up the ark of the Lord with shouts and the sound of the ram’s horn. 2/1/1999 0 Comments WonderFrom my room on the third floor we could see Mt. Fuji, a picturesque snow-capped volcano. Fuji, the glory of Japan, is the tallest and most celebrated mountain on a densely populated island. It is the celebrity of postcards. A treasured possession is a walking stick stamped with the mark of stations climbers achieve as they hike to the top. It’s just a huge hill of slippery rock and snow but one would think it a god.

He was a senior and it was obvious that he had gained his coach’s respect. What was so remarkable about this young man? He never played a down in a game for the Army football team in his four years at West Point.

Not only were we glad to see him safely returned, we also knew he would have a surprise for us. In my study today are many carvings, especially of elephants Dad brought home from different countries. They remind me of my father’s love.

Joshua 24:14,15--Therefore, fear the Lord and worship Him in sincerity and truth. Get rid of the gods your fathers worshiped beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt, and worship Yahweh. But if it doesn’t please you to worship Yahweh, choose for yourselves today the one you will worship: the gods your fathers worshiped beyond the Euphrates River or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living. As for me and my family, we will worship Yahweh. 3/1/1997 0 Comments WorshipMay I invite you to stop what you are doing. Beside you sits a beautifully crafted silver case. Open it and choose four from among the golden tent pegs of love, reverence, faith, obedience, holiness, joy, peace, hope . . . Take these pegs and fasten to the ground you occupy, the royal purple tent of worship you have just unfolded. Now in the holy hush of anticipation you might consider sharing the following words with your Heavenly Father who loves you and takes incredible joy in your heartfelt offering:
I worship You, Almighty God, there is none like You. I worship You, O Prince of Peace, that is what I want to do. I give You praise, for You are my righteousness. I worship You, Almighty God, there is none like You. ©1983 Integrity’s Hosanna! Music |
