8/28/2021 0 Comments WitheringThe Hebrew word navel, basically means wither or lose heart. It is used twenty times in the Old Testament. The word describes Moses in Exodus 18:18—warned about wearing out from trying to judge the people alone. Eleven times it refers to plants dying. Isaiah uses it to show people withering from sin (Isaiah 64:6). When you think of the condition of the world right now does it feel like it is withering? Such a thought should not be surprising for God warned us that this would happen.
10/19/2020 1 Comment When God SpeaksKing Cyrus reigned over Persia from 559–530 B.C. He was a pagan king and yet he credited God with giving him the idea to issue a proclamation. What Cyrus did not know was that he was fulfilling what God had already said would happen through the prophet Jeremiah. Jeremiah focused much of his prophecy on the destruction of Jerusalem and deportation of the people from Judah; something he experienced himself. But he also prophesied in Jer. 29:10-14 that God would bring back the exiles from their captivity and restore Jerusalem. It was not the king’s idea to rebuild Jerusalem it was God’s plan.
8/23/2020 0 Comments Marking People With GraceAt the age of 88, my dad is walking the final chapters of his life on earth still on fire to share the gospel with any and every person he can. Mark Cahill wrote the book One Thing You Can’t Do In Heaven and that one thing is evangelism. Dad is making sure he maximizes now what he won’t be able to do once he is home.
I’m working on writing a biography of his life and was challenged by an entry in his journal on October 10, 1983 while he was serving as the country leader for the Navigators in the Philippines. 5/21/2020 0 Comments Praying in Jesus' NamePerhaps one of the bigger disappointments that Christians carry is the despondency that important prayers seem unanswered. Why does God not do what I have asked for in faith?

4/30/2020 0 Comments Lord God, What Can You Give Me?Do you ever have times where confusion is far more real than clarity? Has God given you a word in the past that seems impossible to fulfill based on current realities? If you answered “yes” to either of those questions, it should not be hard to relate to Abram.
12/24/2019 1 Comment Johnny's ChristmasSilently a small figure sat shivering on the soft pine-covered earth tucked away from the wind in a grove of blue spruce. His tear-filled eyes gazed out across a small meadow where remnants of snow from the last storm lingered. He opened his knapsack and took out the curved white candle and remembered the last words of his frail mother. “Johnny, I love you so much. I’m proud of you. I want you to take this candle and keep it and remember—you are to be a light. No matter what happens, you keep shining? Promise?”
