4/7/1999 0 Comments WatchmanAn amazing transformation took place in my three children after one of them was knocked down by a sneaker wave. They each became exceedingly alert to the size of the ocean waves coming in. They left the Camp of Careless for the safer land of Lookout. And one in particular became a watchman. We could all safely fly our kites knowing he would cry out if the Pacific chose to menace our positions.

Malachi 2:1-2—“Therefore, this decree is for you priests: If you don’t listen, and if you don’t take it to heart to honor My name,” says Yahweh of Hosts, “I will send a curse among you, and I will curse your blessings. In fact, I have already begun to curse them because you are not taking it to heart.” 7/31/1998 0 Comments DisciplineMeditation

Matthew 6:34—Therefore don’t worry about tomorrow, because tomorrow will worry about itself. Why is our society torn by the passions of selfishness? Why is our culture enamored with what is wicked? Could it be that we are adorned in the clothing of excuses to mask our responsibility for sin? Paul Harvey, the famous radio commentator shared a prayer, Pastor Joe Wright of the Wichita Central Christian Church gave at an invocation for the Kansas state legislature. Joe’s prayer was immediately denounced by the governor of Kansas and several legislators stormed out in anger. This prayer has much to say. I hope it will stir your heart as it stirred mine.

Romans 14:10-12--But you, why do you criticize your brother? Or you, why do you look down on your brother? For we will all stand before the tribunal of God. For it is written: As I live, says the Lord, every knee will bow to Me, and every tongue will give praise to God. So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God. 5/9/1997 0 Comments AlterationThe Army has a wonderful way of identifying its own. Each soldier on his or her uniform wears a patch on the left shoulder marking the unit the soldier serves with. On active duty, I wore a patch called “the Screaming Eagle” which identified me as a member of the 101st Airborne (Air Assault) Division.
