Meditation Genesis 24:50-51—Laban and Bethuel answered, “This is from the LORD; we have no choice in the matter. Rebekah is here in front of you. Take her and go, and let her be a wife for your master’s son, just as the LORD has spoken.” Abraham asked his household-managing servant to go and get a wife from his relatives for his son, Isaac. The servant asked God to give him success in the journey, specifically by answering his prayer for the right girl to come and serve him by watering his camels. God answered his prayer through Rebekah. When he explained his purpose in traveling and how God directly answered his prayer to Laban, Rebekah’s brother, and Bethuel, her mother, they agreed with no objection. They could have argued. “Are you kidding! We don’t know you. You could be an imposter.” They might have insisted, “Your gifts are insufficient—pay us more.” Or they might have resisted by suggesting they knew nothing about Isaac making it far too risky to send Rebekah when she might have a better local choice. They had the option to refuse the servant’s request. Instead, they obeyed God. Imagine what you would do in this scenario. Would you obey? When Isaac met Rebekah, the Bible says he loved her (24:67). Even greater, think how much God loves us! God planned that His Son, Jesus Christ, would be a direct descendant of Isaac and Rebekah. He did that for you and for me and everyone else on the planet. When the Holy Spirit leads you in a matter, submit! His will is perfect. His plan is always incredible. He may not ask you to give up a daughter or empty your bank accounts, but be sure whatever He requests of you is for His glory and the advancement of His Kingdom. Better to have no choice in the matter, no matter the choice, than to resist and miss out on fulfilling the King’s leading. Something to think about . . . in reveration!
