Bryce is not a true canyon but rather a series of giant natural amphitheaters carved into the plateau's edge. The “canyon” appearance comes from erosion. It is filled with thousands of hoodoos that range in color from orange, red, and pink to white and purple due to iron and manganese in the rock.
The main geological formation in the park is the Claron Formation (limestone, sandstone, and dolomite). The park ranges between 6,600–9,100 feet in elevation, which contributes to dramatic freeze-thaw cycles that help shape the hoodoos. It became a national monument in 1923 and a full national park in 1928. It is a place where the Paiute Indians once lived and roamed. Meditation Genesis 1:9-10--Then God said, “Let the water under the sky be gathered into one place, and let the dry land appear.” And it was so. 10 God called the dry land “earth,” and He called the gathering of the water “seas.” And God saw that it was good. When God finished creating the earth, He looked it over and declared it good. On every continent I’ve visited, there are places that stop me in my tracks and draw me into worship of the incredible Artist who gave us life and the mission to steward this planet. In our busy daily lives, it’s easy to miss what’s right in front of us. That’s one reason I love road trips—they slow me down and give me space to observe and revel in God’s handiwork. Hiking Zion and Bryce’s trails with Stacy created countless “wow” moments we’ll never forget. Utah’s national parks are powerful reminders of the God who made us. Psalm 19:1 says, “The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky proclaims the work of His hands.” Add to the heavens and the sky the earth’s voice, and we have one incredible orchestra of praise. Imagine what the new earth will be like—incorruptible and filled with God’s presence! No more groaning under sin and decay (Romans 8:19-22). Just perfect, restored creation joining us in unending worship. Inspiration “The creation is quite like a spacious and splendid house, provided and filled with the most exquisite and at the same time the most abundant furnishings.
