7/15/2021 0 Comments More CapacitySaul was an amazingly capable man. Educated by the brilliant Gamaliel and possessed of a keen mind and zealous spirit (22:3) he must have been utterly stunned when Jesus blinded and confronted him on the road to Damascus turning his entire world upside down. While he reached the end of his religious measure as Saul, his life was about to spiritually blossom as Paul. His example should inspire all of us.

7/7/2021 0 Comments God's Gracious HandEzra 8:21-23--I proclaimed a fast by the Ahava River, so that we might humble ourselves before our God and ask Him for a safe journey for us, our children, and all our possessions. I did this because I was ashamed to ask the king for infantry and cavalry to protect us from enemies during the journey, since we had told him, “The hand of our God is gracious to all who seek Him, but His great anger is against all who abandon Him.” So we fasted and pleaded with our God about this, and He granted our request.
5/21/2021 0 Comments Cord ChangesJonathan Cahn shared a historical piece of information that is quite fascinating.[1] In the time of the Jewish second temple, each Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur), a scarlet cord was attached to the Temple doors. It represented the people’s sins in line with Isaiah 1:18, “‘Come, let us discuss this,’ says the Lord. ‘Though your sins are like scarlet, they will be as white as snow; though they are as red as crimson, they will be like wool.’” At the end of the day after the completion of the ordinances the scarlet cord turned white. This supernatural phenomenon occurred annually until the year Jesus Christ was crucified—then the cord remained scarlet. Why did this happen?
4/7/2021 0 Comments LeavingI’m not sure if I’ve ever read a devotional on leaving but it seems appropriate to write one. After six years in Colorado, a destination I arrived at with no expectation of ever moving again, once more I find myself getting ready to pack up a moving truck and transport my family. We are leaving the Rockies, a beautiful city, a great church, wonderful friends and a place we truly love because of health reasons. It seems that for some of us, living at a high elevation (almost 7,000 ft.) comes with a cost and it is one that is not worth paying if it can be avoided.

11/17/2020 0 Comments One Thing You Can't Do In HeavenI am reminded of a story that I found in his journal. On, December 4, 1987 while in Sibu, Malaysia, Dad dreamed about a silver dollar. When he woke up he remembered he had promised Johnny Ting, a Malaysian he had met a year earlier in Bintulu, Malaysia, that he would bring him a silver dollar the next time he saw him.

Trapped in a nursing home by Covid-19, depressed and unable to leave her room for months, she wasted away to a mere 75 pounds before finally reaching earth’s finish line at the age of 91. Fortunately, her life was not defined by her death.

8/23/2020 0 Comments Marking People With GraceAt the age of 88, my dad is walking the final chapters of his life on earth still on fire to share the gospel with any and every person he can. Mark Cahill wrote the book One Thing You Can’t Do In Heaven and that one thing is evangelism. Dad is making sure he maximizes now what he won’t be able to do once he is home.
I’m working on writing a biography of his life and was challenged by an entry in his journal on October 10, 1983 while he was serving as the country leader for the Navigators in the Philippines. 7/31/2020 0 Comments I & II SamuelThe central task of leadership is influencing God’s people towards God’s purposes.—Robert Clinton in The Making of a Leader

4/30/2020 0 Comments Lord God, What Can You Give Me?Do you ever have times where confusion is far more real than clarity? Has God given you a word in the past that seems impossible to fulfill based on current realities? If you answered “yes” to either of those questions, it should not be hard to relate to Abram.
